Iowa PGA to Assist with Administration of Boys State Golf Championships

Riverside, Iowa — The Iowa PGA will partner with the Iowa High School Athletic Association during the Boys State Golf Championships on May 24-25. The tournaments will begin with a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. on May 24. 

The tournaments will feature teams and individuals competing in their respected classes. The 1A Championship will be held at the Westwood GC. Teams and individuals competing in the 2A Championship will play at the American Legion GC, and the 3A Championship is taking place at the Lakeside GC. 

The Iowa PGA will assist in serving as rules officials during the tournament. In addition, the Iowa PGA will be assisting with scoring and other aspects of tournament administration.

There are 24 Junior Tour members competing for their individual schools this week. 

The Class 1A championship in Newton will feature Jacob Hesner, Tyler Kopp and Clayton Phillips. 

Iowa PGA Junior Tour golfers competing in the Class 2A championship include, Mark Schomer, Dylan Ellis, Kolby Shackelford, Jared Tigges, Ethan Pietig, Bo Weissenfluh, Nate Juffer, Matt Wynne and Tommy Weissenburger. 

Brandon McCarty, Matt Gearheart, Cyle Renaud, Noah Hartman, Adam O’Connor, Ethan Verwers, Kyle Linder, Harold Dobernecker, Ezra Meyer, Jacob Brainerd, Hogan Rockhold and Tate Storebeck will all will be competing in the 3A Championship.
