2020 Iowa PGA Junior Tour Players of the Year Winners

Riverside, Iowa – The Iowa PGA Junior Tour Player of the Year point totals continued for 2020 in a “best of” approach; points are earned by a player in the top 15 tournaments that he or she participated in. At the conclusion of the season, the player with the most points acquired in their division is awarded this title. The age divisions included are: Boys 11 & Under, Boys 12-13, Boys 14-15, Boys 16-18, Girls 13 & Under, Girls 14-15, Girls 16-18.
 
Events are categorized in four groups: Major, Ace, Eagle, and Birdie. Major Point events are worth the most amount of points, then Ace, Eagle, then Birdie. The 2020 Iowa PGA Junior Tour Player of the Year award recipients will be honored at the All-Star Pro Golf Awards Luncheon that will be held on Tuesday, November 10 at Riverside Casino & Golf Resort.

The Iowa PGA would like to continue to thank our PGA Professionals and course hosts for supporting our programs.  We have over 80 facilities host annually and we cannot do what we do without their support!

Boys 16-18
Brandon McCarty of North Liberty, Iowa won the 2020 Iowa Junior Boys 16-18 Player of the Year Award accumulating 2,125.27 Player of the Year points. He had 14 top nine finishes on the Iowa PGA Junior Tour this season, including one victory. McCarty won the Second Annual Iowa Junior Open 18-hole event hosted by Blue Top Ridge. McCarty was also the Honoree of our 2020 Iowa PGA Foundation Charlie Burkart Scholarship Award.

Boys 14-15
Jackson Overton of Indianola, Iowa won the 2020 Iowa Junior Boys 14-15 Player of the Year Award with 3,290.67 Player of the Year points. Overton appeared in 16 Iowa PGA Junior Tour events this summer finishing inside the top 13 in every event including four victories this season. Overton was victorious at the Jerry Smith Junior Tour Summer Kickoff hosted by Edmundson GC and Harvest Point GC, 2020 Iowa Junior Boys/Girls Am Championship hosted by Spirit Hollow GC, Junior Tour Mid-Summer Classic 18-hole Division hosted by Briarwood GC and Iowa PGA Junior Tour Fall Classic hosted by Thunder Hills CC.

Boys 12-13
Isaiah Zoske of Solon, Iowa is this year’s 2020 Iowa Junior Boys 12-13 Player of the Year. He finished the 2020 season with a total of 3,615 Player of the Year points. Zoske played in 21 events this season, finishing inside the top 9 at each event. Zoske won six events in 2020. He was victorious at the Terrace Hills 15U Junior, Twin Pines Junior, Veenker Memorial Amateur, Iowa City Junior at Pleasant Valley, TPC Deere Run Junior Open 13 & Under and Iowa Games Junior hosted by Veenker Memorial GC.

Boys 11 & Under
Lucas Laffoon of Johnston, Iowa played in 14 events, resulting in 4,390 Player of the Year points, to win the 2020 Iowa Junior Boys 11 & Under Player of the Year Award. Laffoon won all of the 14 events he participated in the Boys 11 & Under division.  Some of his victorious included the Iowa PGA Junior Spring Series #2 hosted by Westwood GC, Elmwood Junior Amateur, 45th Iowa Boys Jr. PGA Championship 15U hosted by Gates Park, Cedar Valley Junior Tour Championship hosted by Pheasant Ridge GC, TPC Deer Run Jr. Open 13 & Under, Southeast IA Junior hosted by The Preserve on Rathbun Lake, Iowa Games Junior hosted by Veenker Memorial GC, Western Iowa Junior hosted by Lakeside Municipal GC, Iowa PGA Cedar Rapids Junior hosted by Gardner GC and Boys/Girls 13U Junior Tour Mid-Summer Classic hosted by Echo Valley CC.

Girls 16-18
Paige Hoffman of West Des Moines, Iowa won the 2020 Iowa Junior Girls 16-18 Player of the Year with 3,730 Player of the Year points. Hoffman, only 18 years old, has now won the Girls 16-18 Player of the Year four years straight. Hoffman appeared in 16 events on the Iowa PGA Junior Tour this season and finished top 6 in each event, including 8 first place finishes. She was victorious at the Iowa PGA Junior Spring Series #2 hosted by Westwood GC, Des Moines Junior hosted by Willow Creek GC, Western Iowa Junior hosted by Lakeside Municipal GC, Iowa PGA Cedar Rapids Junior hosted by Gardner GC, Pheasant Ridge Junior, Iowa PGA Waterloo Junior Classic hosted by Irv Warren Memorial, Quad Cities Junior at Pinnacle CC and Iowa PGA Junior Tour Fall Classic hosted by Thunder Hills CC. Hoffman has won Player Year each of the last seven years. Before winning the Girls 16-18 award the last three years, she was the Girls 13 & Under Player of Year in 2014 and 2015, and the Girls 14-15 Player of the Year in 2016. 

Girls 14-15
Addison Berg of Swisher, Iowa is the 2020 Iowa Junior Girls 14-15 Player of the Year. Berg played in 20 Iowa PGA Junior Tour events this season, finishing in the top 7 in each event. She finished the 2020 season with a total of 3,820 Player of the Year points. Berg won a remarkable 6 times this season. She was victorious at the Jerry Smith Junior Tour Summer Kickoff hosted by Edmundson GC and Harvest Point GC, Greater Cedar Rapids Junior hosted by Hunters Ridge GC, Southeast IA Junior hosted by The Preserve on Rathbun Lake, Airport National Junior, Western Iowa Junior hosted by Lakeside Municipal GC and Iowa PGA Junior Tour Fall Classic hosted by Thunder Hills CC.

Girls 13 & Under
Morgan Rupp of Marion, Iowa accumulated 4,520 Player of the Year points to win the 2020 Iowa Junior Girls 13 & Under Player of the Year Award. Rupp played in 17 Iowa PGA Junior Tour Events this season, finishing inside the top 7 in all events including 10 first place finishes. Rupp was victorious at the Iowa PGA Spring Series #3 hosted by Muscatine GC, Elmwood Junior Amateur, Jerry Smith Junior Tour Summer Kickoff hosted by Edmundson GC and Harvest Point GC, 2020 Iowa Junior Boys/Girls Am Championship hosted by Spirit Hollow GC, Cedar Valley Junior Tour Championship hosted by Pheasant Ridge GC, Iowa City Junior at Brown Deer, Greater Cedar Rapids Junior hosted by Hunters Ridge GC, Eastern Iowa Junior hosted by Oakwood CC, IAPGA Waterloo Junior Classic hosted by Irv Warren Memorial and IAPGA Junior Tour Fall Classic hosted by Thunder Hills CC.
