PGA Jr. League Regional Preview

Riverside, Iowa – The Glen Oaks Country Club and the Iowa PGA Section will be hosting the Region 8 PGA Jr. League Regional on Saturday, September 14th and Sunday, September 15th. The event will be a round robin format with four teams competing. The Iowa PGA Section, Minnesota PGA Section, Nebraska PGA Section and Colorado PGA Section will be represented at the event. The Region 8 champion will be one of twelve teams competing at the PGA Jr. League National Championship held October 11-14, 2019 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The Iowa PGA will be represented by the Ames/Marshalltown League All-Stars. The team is comprised of players from Briarwood Golf Club (Ankeny), Elmwood Country Club (Marshalltown), Indian Creek Country Club (Nevada) and Veenker Memorial Golf Course (Ames). The team is led by Captain Greg Dingel, PGA of Veenker Memorial Golf Course and Coach Jay Giannetto, PGA of Elmwood Country Club. 

The Ames/Marshalltown League All-Stars began their postseason journey at the West Sub-Section Championship played at Westwood Golf Course in Newton. The team advanced to the Iowa PGA Jr. League Section Championship at Sunnyside Country Club in Waterloo. The team defeated the Waterloo West All-Stars in their Semi-Final match. In the Final match, the team defeated the Dubuque League All-Stars 6.5 to 5.5 to advance to the PGA Jr. League Regional.
