Depuydt Named Career Advancement Scholarship Honoree-
Riverside, Iowa – Tatum Depuydt of Cedar Rapids Country Club has been named the 2026 Iowa PGA Career Advancement Scholarship honoree by the Iowa PGA Scholarship Committee. The Iowa PGA Section Foundation annually awards a career advancement scholarship to assist individuals in furthering their education toward career development. Applicants who are interested in pursuing a career in the golf industry or other career requiring educational training are welcome to apply for a one year $1,000 scholarship.
When asked on what this means to win, Depuydt responded with, “This award means a lot to me, and I am honored to receive it. This scholarship will go toward my Level 2 seminar and travel expenses. I am very grateful for this scholarship.”
Golf has always been a part of her life for as long as she can remember. What first started off as putting contests with ice cream on the line, slowly morphed into lessons, and an eventual competitive career. In high school, she decided to take her career into college, where she played at South Dakota State for four years. At SDSU she studied Business Economics and Marketing. Her love for golf and business led her down the path she finds herself today, which is as a full-time Assistant Professional at Cedar Rapids Country Club. She has been in her role at CRCC since May 2025. She oversees women’s golf programming and merchandising. Additionally helps with junior golf, clinics, organization of events, tournament execution, and daily operations. As of November 2025, she has also become a representative on the Assistant Professional Board for our Section.
Tatum sees herself becoming a Director of Instruction or Merchandiser. She has found success and joy in both specialties and is excited to see where it takes her in the future. She is very open to either route and believes as she furthers her schooling and advances in her career, the correct path will show itself in time. Right now, she is committed to learning, growing her skills as a professional, and providing her membership with the best experience.
August of 2025, Tatum started Level 1 of the PGM program. As of September 10, she is nearly complete with her portfolio in Level 1. Once this is complete, she will be done with Level 1. Her intention is to start Level 2 this winter and go to Frisco before the 2027 season starts up.
David Sutton, PGA Lead Assistant Golf Professional at Cedar Rapids Country Club responded with, “Tatum is an extremely hard working and motivated golf professional who has made immediate and necessary impacts at our facility and to our membership. One of Tatum’s goals when she became a golf professional at CRCC was to improve the ladies’ golf programming and transform our Ladies Golf Association into something the membership would be proud of. I believe Tatum has more than accomplished this and has driven success to all the ladies’ events we have at the club. Another way Tatum has made an impact at our facility is through the merchandising operation. Her motivation to deliver a world class professional shop to all the members and guests, is fully on display to anyone who walks into the shop. Her impact on our ladies and merchandise offering has only delivered more satisfied members. Since I have known Tatum, she has wanted to be a PGA Professional, and she does an immaculate job of showcasing this each and every day.”
This is Depuydt’s first Iowa PGA Section Award.
The Iowa PGA Congratulates Tatum Depuydt as our 2026 Iowa PGA Career Advancement Scholarship winner.
