Membership & Tournament Scholarship

The Iowa PGA is offering financial assistance for juniors who desire to participate in either the Iowa PGA Junior Tour or Iowa PGA Pee Wee Tour, but are unable to pay the participation and membership fees. Each family or individual must meet the eligibility guidelines in order to receive financial assistance but all are encouraged to apply. You must explain your particular circumstance for consideration. Please feel free to call the office 319-648-0026 with any questions. This will be an annual opportunity.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE SCHOLARSHIP

Financial need is defined by players who meet one of two criteria in the following financial means test: Free or reduced lunch at school Extenuating circumstances (loss of employment, medical bills, other)

MILITARY SCHOLARSHIP

Participants qualify for the military scholarship if they are a child of Active Duty, Retired, or Reserve members of the military.

LPGA FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

The LPGA Foundation offers 4 scholarship programs for young women who enjoy the game of golf and plan to attend college in the fall. Qualifications for all scholarships include strong academic programs, community service, and recommendations.

The 4 scholarships are as follows:

  • Dinah Shore Scholarship – Granted annually to a female high school senior who is pursuing a college education, but will not be playing collegiate golf.
  • Marilynn Smith Scholarship – Awarded to high school seniors who will be playing golf at the collegiate level.
  • Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship – A need-based award granted to a high school senior from a recognized minority background who will be playing golf at the collegiate level.
  • Goldie Bateson Scholarship – Awarded to junior golfers residing within the Midwest Section States between the ages of 7 and 17 who have an interest in learning an playing the game of golf.

PGA FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FUND SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

This program provides college scholarships for children and grandchildren of PGA Members. It encourages and promotes the attainment of higher educational goals for the children and grandchildren of PGA Members, based on evidence of a high level of academic achievement during high school or college.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • A student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher in either high school or college.
  • Be a child or grandchild of a PGA member in good standing.
  • Be accepted for admission to a two-year or four-year college or university.
  • Be enrolled as a full-time student or be accepted as an incoming freshman pursuing a full-time course load.
