Team Iowa 54-Hole Recap of Boys PGA High School National Invitational-
Frisco, Texas – Iowa was represented Nathan Freidhoff of Johnston, Iowa, Reid Hall of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Andrew Johannsen of Johnston, Iowa, Ben Christy of Johnston, Iowa, Krish Gupta of Johnston, Iowa, Owen Howe of Des Moines, Iowa and Tyler Herrmann of Johnston, Iowa all competed in the PGA High School National Invitational at PGA Frisco in Frisco, Texas on July 17-19, 2023.
The courses that were competed on for all days were Field Ranch West Course, OId American Golf Club.
Team Iowa
Team Iowa placed T16 overall (335-295-311=941, 77-over-par) to represent the state of Iowa down at Frisco, Texas.
Johannsen’s first round (July 17) he carded bogeys on hole 3, 4 and 7 including a double bogey on hole 15. Johannsen’s second round (July 18) he carded a birdie on hole 15; bogeys on holes 2, 6 and 11 including double bogeys on holes 4 and 17. Johannsen’s final round (July 19) he carded birdies on holes 5 and 17; bogeys on holes 2, 6, 7 and 10 including a double bogey on hole 4. His 54-Hole total 77-78-76=234, 15-over-par and placed T78 overall.
Gupta’s first round (July 17) he carded bogeys on holes 1, 3, 5, 9 and 18 including double bogeys on holes 7, 10, 11 and 17. Gupta’s second round (July 18) he carded birdies on holes 1, 3, 8, 9 and 12 including bogeys on holes 4, 7 and 16. Gupta’s final round (July 19) he carded a birdie on hole 8; bogeys on holes 1, 4, 5 and 15 including double bogeys on holes 2 and 6. His 54-hole total 86-70-79=235, 19-over-par and placed T111 overall.
Herrmann’s first round (July 17) he carded bogeys on holes 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14 and 18 including double bogeys on holes 6, 10 and 11. Herrmann’s second round (July 18) he carded birdies on holes 3, 7, 12 and 13; bogeys on holes 1, 11 and 17 including a double bogey on hole 2. Herrmann’s final round (July 19) he carded a birdie on hole 12 including bogeys on holes 2, 3, 4, 10, 13 and 16. His 54-hole total 87-74-77=238, 22-over-par and placed T136 overall.
Christy’s first round (July 17) he carded a birdie on hole 17; bogeys on holes 5, 9, 16 and 18 including double bogeys on holes 1, 3, 10, 14 and 15. Christy’s second round (July 18) he carded a birdie on hole 3; bogeys on holes 2, 4 and 15 including a double bogey on hole 14. Christy’s final round (July 19) he carded birdies on holes 8 and 11; bogeys on holes 2, 4, 9, 10, 12, 14 and 15 including a double bogey on hole 16. His 54-hole total 86-76-79=241, 25-over-par and placed T162 overall.
Howe’s first round (July 17) he carded bogeys on holes 1, 5, 6, 9, 14, 17 and 18 including double bogey on holes 10, 13 and 15. Howe’s second round (July 18) he carded birdies on holes 3, 10, 12 and 18; bogeys on holes 4, 7, 9, 14 and 15 including a double bogey on hole 17. Howe’s final round (July 19) he carded birdies on holes 8, 11 and 18; bogeys on holes 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 13 and 14 including double bogeys on holes 1 and 17. His 54-hole total 86-75-83=244, 28-over-par and placed T177 overall.
Individuals
Hall’s first round (July 17) he carded birdies on holes 7 and 15; bogeys on holes 2, 9, 10 and 18 including a double bogey on hole 1. Hall’s second round (July 18) he carded birdies on holes 3, 13, 15 and 16 including bogeys on holes 2, 11 and 12. Hall’s final round (July 19) he carded a birdie on hole 18 including bogeys on holes 2, 12 and 17. His 54-hole total 77-71-74=222, 6-over-par and placed T24 overall.
Freidhoff’s first round (July 17) he carded a birdie on hole 17; bogeys on holes 4, 6, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 18. Freidhoff’s second round (July 18) he carded birdies on holes 5 and 15; bogeys on holes 2, 6, 9 and 12 including double bogeys on holes 1, 4, 7, 10 and 17. Freidhoff’s final round (July 19) he carded a birdie on hole 8; bogeys on holes 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 11, 16 and 18 including double bogeys on holes 4, 13, 14 and 17. His 54-hole total 82-86-89=257, 41-over-par and placed T247 overall.
